ARTIST - Holly Sanders
Holly Sanders, Aboriginal Bundjalung woman
Through her art she aims to share her stories, culture and Country in a contemporary way. The patterns of Saltwater Country motivate her, as do stories from the past.
The colours and patterns utilised in her art are a reflection of her connection to Country and used to develop a modern interpretation of her Aboriginal culture.
Painting and maintaining cultural tradition is important for her identity, wellbeing and expresses the way she understands and respects her culture, ancestors and Country.
‘Jamigam’ - Saltwater | Acrylic on canvas | 20cm x 20cm
This piece represents saltwater and the connectedness of land and sea. Water holds deep spiritual and cultural significance for Bundjalung people. The vast network of rivers, estuaries and coastal regions found across country represents a rich source of food and culture.
Saltwater is also central to our Dreaming and totems. The land and sea together form saltwater ‘Country’. Coastal environments are owned and cared for by Aboriginal people through a system of strict, complex community responsibilities built up over thousands of generations.

Functional and pretty
Beautiful design. Comfortable and easy to wear. Casual or work ready.
The top is beautiful in so many ways. The artwork is inspiring and has been reproduced in fabric exceptionally well. Both the cut and the drape of the top is flattering, and has been made to an incredibly high standard. It’s going to be a versatile wardrobe piece that can be dressed up or down to suit most occasions. A definite must-have piece.
utterly disappointing it was made in China...it is a shame!
